You might have noticed we did not report a lot on the MSX Revival for a while now. The reason is, there just is no news worth writing about at the moment. I'm wondering how you feel about this first silence after the storm. Is it the premature end of the MSX Revival? or is there more to come, with 2 new magazines coming in, MAC, PDA and phone ports of MSXPLAYer, one chip computers, world domin..err...

In the meanwhile you are so bored you started trolling chatrooms, Mark? :/

Anyway, what kind of new developments could we expect? Basically everything has already been announced. We already know MSX Magazine will get a 2nd release and I'm sure they are working on that very hard. We already know MSX PLAYer will get more platforms it runs on, so they are probably working on that aswell.

And ofcourse, the 20th anniversary of MSX is just 2.5 months away. I wouldn't be surprised if they're saving up the news until then!

eeh, trolling chatrooms? I dont know what trolling is but i do know that i rarely visit chatrooms...

anyway, news about the magazines and MSXPLAYer is not really interesting to me. The magazines cannot (unfortunatly) provide me with anything usefull, neither does the MSXPLAYer, however, its nice that more platforms will be able to run the thing in the near future.

For me, im ONLY really interested in a possible new MSX. Especially when i imagine the stuff i can code for it...

i hope it won't include a TCP/IP suite (among with ALL other protocols and stuff). WHY? I'd LOVE to code that. Especially since the grades i get for datacommunication/networking etc, are extemely perfect.

euhm... enough about the chatroom things...

First of all, I think we _need_ the MSXPLAYer and the Magazines in order to make MSX well-known again, and to provide MSX Associations with some funds. Furthermore, I think the new MSX will conlude a lot of common protocols, simply because you don't sell computers that do nothing out-of-the-box.

ofcourse the player etc is superb for raising some funds, as well as making it well-known again. It just doesnt really interest me, (made possible by not being able to read jap )

anyway, it will propably include several protocol suites, but there are SOOOO many of those. Im familliar with about 30 internetworking protocols but im also unfamilliar with a larger ammount of protocols (i hate that word). I really doubt it that every known protocol will be included in the OS. Hopefully i can fill some gaps

..or at least improve some?

indeed, the MSXPLAYer is mostly interesting for 'non-msxers'
