C´mon guys, multiplayer via bluetooth is a *very secondary* thing. As Jr said, it is very very dificult to implement, and there are other parts of the emu that should be optimized... Let's leave him working on his way ^^

Yup, I agree w/ karloch. Think we should let jr first work on other more important things first
Like optimization, new functions, bugfixing...
Oh yes, BTW I found a very very small bug: When the phone is switched to silent mode, fMSX crashes when sound is enabled.

To avoid the game engine problem in the emulator situation the other device would really have to be a dummy that only shows the MSX screen and reads & transmits user input to the other device. I think this is not doable, though, because it would require a lot of bandwidth to transmit the screen (for MSX, something like 3.5MB/s). Okay, maybe we could lower it down a bit by using interlacing or something else but still... I don't know. But I might try some day when I feel like experimenting more with this.

Whoa, 3,5MB/s.. I guess the BT couldn't cope w/ that bandwidth, rite?

Hmm.. then instead of transmitting the complete frames of the master, only sending the changes? But there would be lags w/ many animations..

Or another possibility, but it's only a suggestion, because I don't know exactly how the MSX or/and the emulation works.
Both phones emulate the msx, but in a certain way:
The master msx receives the inputs of the other player and runs the emulation as usual.
The other one only gets the machine states (or the changes) from the master, and has to emulate the display/sound itself.
This way, the game engine is emulated only once, but runs on both phones.

Would it save enough bandwidth?

Jr Do you think WHY eMAME Not Ported for Series60 platform??? eMAME exists on 9210, but not on 7650/3650 WHY?? It's terrible!

Hmmm.. maybe none of the developers of eMAME has a Series 60 compatible phone?

Difference 9210 from series60 it's another screen resolution and all. It's silly to stop work on this.

Thank you for v0.96 it's GREAT!!! All bug's is fixed!

First of all, thank you for the great implementation of this emu for 3650! In version 0.96 I was able to save the current state, which is very convenient feature. However, after first time accessing the pause menu and resetting the emu (or saving the state, or doing anything in the pause-menu, actually..), program starts to systematically crash if I try to change a different game. Even restarting the app won't help. The error code that the symbian core returns after crash is E32USER-CBASE 21. Any help would be nice.

Strange, I tried to pause, reset and switch game several times and did not have any problems. Could you give me step-by-step instructions on what to do to reproduce your situation? The error code means an array index out of bounds exception for OS array objects and there are very few places in the code where those are used...

The problem seems to be resolved now. I uninstalled my romXX.sis -files, I had two of them in the system. The other seem to have been a leftover from the previous installation of 0.95.

Here's the procedure which caused the problem: After uninstalling the v0.95, I thought it also removed the first romXX.sis file, since I could not see it on the installation list (or then I just missed it). Therefore I went next to installation of the version 0.96 and after that, a renewed 0.96 version of my romXX.sis files (it contained some of the roms of the first file plus some different ones). After this, the exception occurred. I found the reason by looking again on the installation list and saw the two romXX.sis files on the list. I removed both of them and reinstalled the version 0.96 roms.. Now it seems to be working, at least for the couple of games that inflicted the error earlier. Now I can enjoy my emulator flat out! It surely is a great example of successful symbian killer apps! I just hope that MAME would be ported for Series 60 with same diligence!

Ok, I'm glad you got it working -- so I probably won't spend too much time trying to see what the problem was, hehe.

And thank you for your kind words but be careful not to praise the software too much so I won't get too arrogant

Since 3650 has rather clumsy navigation pad, I found it better to use alternative configuration for joystick keys. Here they are:

up: 1
down: 3
left: 2
right: 9
fire 1: 0
fire 2: 8
u+l: 4
u+r: 7
d+l: 5
d+r: 6

So far this has been the best configuration I've tried. Cheers!

Woah, finally I got some time (university is keeping me so busy). I tried the new 0.96 version. Jr, you was right, I'm very pleased with this new version. The performace improvement and the bug fixes are very very notable, and at last, I don't have to be exiting the emulator to change game ^^ Because of the performace improvement, the music sounds better now (even I think that is not so far away of normal music without glitches).

This emulator is becoming a masterpiece, keep up this great work Jr!

That's a negative. The emulator will be completed when Jr decides in that way. If you take a look at Jr's homepage, fmsx/s60 section, you will see a TO-DO list for the emulator.

The emulator is already more than enjoyable, and I dare to say that sound is nearly to optimal, but there are still things left on the emulator.

Developing a new emulator is a complex task. This MSX emu was created so fast because Jr used the fMSX/Unix code as base, although he almost rewrote everything. MSX is a machine much more interesting to emulating than a NES, or even a Sega Genesis. And about Sega Genesis, I doubt that the Series 60 proccessor have enough power to handle M68000 emulation (and the others components of a Genesis system, like the Z80).

Of course, emulators of other plattaforms rather than MSX are off-topic here.
