Hello MSX friends

I currently have a CF-IDE Cartridge, I think it is wonderful

I also have a IDE-RS232 cartridge, I was thinking about purchasing the CF adaptor, so that I can have four CF devices on my MSX - I have scrapped the idea of using my Hard Disks now.

I have some questions;

i) Can i use them in conjuction with each other?

ii) Can i power the CF adaptor from the RS232 port on the IDE-RS232 port? or even the MSX joystick port ? if I can which pins would i use to connect ?

iii) is there any way either unit will work on a MSX1?

I am going to run out of drive letters soon

I think three cf-cards can be used and not for unless you have two adaptors.
About let the interface or adaptor on a msx-1 work. It is asked many times.
In the ide-forum leo discussed the possibility and was busy.
However, since we of Sunrise and Bifi asked to contact us he disappeared from the forum.
I will try if Jon has energy to do it, but it has no priority on the calander
Running out of drive letters can be worked out by using fat16.
So i my case I run a ls-120-,hd and cf-cartridge together 6 drives available

He was talking about using 2 CF-cards in his CF-IDE cartridge, and another 2 on his IDE-RS232 using 2 CF Adaptors. Which should be possible, given your CF cards can run as either Master or Slave.

AFAIK it's never possible to use 3 devices on one IDE channel...

That is ofcourse not possible , I also use an ide interface combi.
But furthermore i donot read in the mail that David want to use two adaptors.
Thus therefore the conclusion was 3 cf-cards as maximum on the two devices

Thanks for your replies 8) I thought the CF adaptor might have facilities for two CF cards - from what I have read the adaptor is for just one card?

The power compumstion of a CF card is approx 70mA, which I think the 5v supply from the Joystick port would not be able to power it - maybe two ports in parallel - but then where would i plug my joystick ?

My Brazilian slot expander (thanks Ginseng!) has a place where i can take a 5v supply

I think my questions have now been answered, or at least my problems have been dealt with. Thank you

David

Yeah, the CF adaptor is just for one card. There is a switch on it for switching Master/Slave, so you can still connect two adaptors to one IDE channel.
