Can anyone confirm if Super Lode Runner (crc 80ECAC11 ) is a good dump ? No emulator seems to be able to run this game.

The megarom switch address used isn't supported by (m)any emulator(s).

The switch address is documented as 0000h, but this makes no sense.
If emulated, you can see that the ROM indeed writes to address 0000h, but also 8000h, and it writes the value '0', which would mean it wants to switch to page 0. The ROM is started in page 0, so it will end up in an infinite loop.

It would go too far to state the developers were visionairs hey.....'Let's make this game not to run easily in future emulators' |

Yes that would go a bit too far But I think the developers (Irem) created this odd mapper to prevent the game from being cracked. Irem also made R-Type, which has a weird mapper too.
Is there a cracked disk version of Super Lode Runner available ? It would be good to see how it's cracked. Please don't post where it can be downloaded, or this topic would be closed. |

I cracked Super Lode Runner two years ago. I also made a patched .ROM file running as a 16KB ASCII mapper MegaROM.
If you need, please contact me at jmorente@hotelescenter.es

AFAIK, MESS can emulate it. But the game violates the MSX standard. More info is here: www.msxnet.org/tech/megaroms. It has also been discussed in the openMSX mailinglists. To support it in openMSX means some structural changes, since, again, the MSX standard is violated. See e.g. this thread: sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=2190349 |

Thanks everyone, Frits has correctly implemented the Super Lode Runner mapper in NLMSX now: one 16k bank at 8000h and the switch address at 0000h.
*edit* MESS emulates this game wrongly by the way: it maps 2 blocks of 8kb (2nd part of page 0) to the 4000h-7fffh bank. Super Lode Runner is only active at 8000h-bfffh

The Super Lode Runner cartridge ignores the MSX SLOTSELECT signal. |

I understand.
Hmmm...
Is it mandatory to acknowledge the slotselect signal?
Anyway, do you know if is there on the internet any book or manual explaining the msx slot/bus? |
