Aleste English on Project EGG video

It seems Project EGG posted a video of Aleste English on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62xC7Y6k_Ag

Rieks, did you translate that? The Japanese text mentions Woomb.net (not surprising), but at the end there's something about who translated it, I think ("barge"?).

Looks great. (And yes, of course we keep wondering (or nagging about) availability for real MSX!)

Yup, that seems to be my translation. There's no information on who translated it; the 'barge' you mention is 'baajon', meaning version . It says the game was translated to English voluntarily (which, I have to admit, is a bit strange...).

heh, indeed, 'version'... I didn't press the 'more info' link so, it got chopped off in the middle of the katakana!

*grumble* The Aleste2 localization (I did the coding, Rieks did the translations) is definitely mine. It seems they're giving that away for free to Project EGG members. Funny, since I don't remember signing anything that said Project EGG had any rights to my work at all.

I really don't mind giving my work away for free, since I never expected to earn a lot of money with it in the first place, but if it's going to be given away for 'free' in Japan I would much rather give it away for free in Europe as well. Also, I'll be darned if I'm not credited when people give my work away for free!

If I see Xak up there (which took more than a year to make) I'm sending out Babelfish emails!

No need to send any Babelfish e-mails. This is indeed a topic that needs to be discussed. It's a fact that it seems that D4E is going a little ahead on things. But I think we should talk about this in private. Haven't spoken you for a while, anyway (hope you're doing fine, by the way!).

Ok, now that this is settled, you can do a genuine MSX conversion...

I just did the localizations, the translations were done by Rieks. If you feel like translating a game I'd be willing to do the localization though! I've actually gotten quite good at it!

Maybe we should pick up a project together again. Now just for fun. There's a couple of games I'd like to translate for a while now...

Sure, I'm up for it. Just let me know which games you're thinking of. Perhaps some people on the forums here would be willing to help out, allowing us to finish even faster. (Placing the text on the game disks and testing takes a lot of time)

I'd really like to do Randar III and Burai 1 and 2. Randar III is on the top of my list
