I'd love to see Tower of Cabin translated... but also Runeworth or the last disks of Illusion City have my interest!

Nice to see so many people would like to see another game translated. Of course, the real question for us is how many people would be willing to help out with the implementation of the translated text and test playing. Expect to spend anywhere between 10 and 50 hours depending on the amount of volunteers. Takers? Anyone?

Well, I can do some testplaying!

Madou Monogatari 1-2-3 would be nice also, but it contains a lot of text. By the way Rikusu, I am willing to test your translation(s). It depends on the game though. Randar III would be great to test (Tower of Cabin would be even better), but it must be a game I like.

As a suggestion for a game to be translated, I would say Final Zone (MSX1 megarom).

Btw, is there an IPS patch of your work in Aleste available, Sonic?

Sonic didn't help with Aleste 1. He did the implementing of my translation for Aleste 2. But there are no IPS patches available at this time. I don't say they will -never- come (neither do I promise they will), but at least not now .

And nice to see so many suggestions - but really, a good implementation (reprogramming of text routines and the like) costs much time and effort; we would need more reverse engineers to do more games (or just help out Sonic - and I don't think he was thinking about testplaying, although that's an important part as well ).

If I could do programming I would help, but I can't. But maybe you guys could need help with additional graphics such as a new font or a titlescreen in English...

Well, you could try to make a decent English version of the title screen of Randar 3...?

By the way, it says (from top to bottom):

Adventure of Randar (stone-ish letters)
- The wizard charmed by darkness -

Sure, gimme a GE5 picture or something and I will make an English version.

I don't have one, but I guess it can easily be extracted from the VRAM after a reset?

Otherwise we should wait until Sonic interferes

Actually, I don't really need help with the actual reprogramming/debugging/localizing, this I can do by myself. The bulk of the work is however putting the new text in the game. Usually this involves finding the position of the old text (it's in the script) and putting a pointer there to the location of the new text. While this is fairly easy to do, it does take a lot of time for a game like (for instance) Xak.

I think I spent maybe one month reverse-engineering and recoding the text routines for Xak. I spent another 11 months putting all the new text in the game and testing to see if the text would display as planned. While Xak is an unusually large RPG, it's still the part translating any game which takes the most time.

If we can find 5 or 6 people willing to spend some time on this for (for instance) Randar III it really speeds up the process, meaning I can concentrate on coding the finishing touches (like Graphics) while other people put the actual text in the game and test to see if everything went well.

So, again, volunteers? Anyone willing to waste a couple of weekends?

The only "qualities" I have are doing graphics and making some tunes. So, again: Count me IN for playtesting and graphics but count me OUT if it comes to anything else (anything else=text implementation).
