Natively it runs OS named "µCosII" ( datasheet is here). SDK is messy indeed. That's why everybody wait for Linux to be ported. |

µCosII Holy Gee, that's even worst than I thought.
Why the heck they're not using Linux? Can't see HOW creating a device with µCosII would be easier than with Linux.

Linux port for Dingoo is ready, and a lot of emulators are already ported to it, including Coleco.
Does anybody feel brave enough to add MSX to the growing list of emulated systems ?
Dingux (Linux) distributive and dev toolchain are here. |

I want to release openMSX for Dingux this weekend. It's an early port, so it has some rough edges. But overall games play pretty well.

Let's all order a Dingoo! It's only 60 euros at DealExtreme!

mth, great !
I think you can ask dhau to be a beta-tester, he already owns a Dingoo.

Everyone with a Dingoo, check out the openMSX downloads section. As I wrote in the release notes, it's an early port, so not everything works fluently. But it's quite usable already. |

Great great great ! Too bad I have no Dingoo.
MSX on Dingoo is IMHO what most of MSX lovers need.

mth,
IMHO if you add per-game button configuration (does openMSX support this in main version ?), this should solve the "not enough buttons" problem.
In my Rockbox port of fMSX (PMPs have even less buttons than Dingoo has) I did the following:
1) assigned CTRL, SHIFT, GRAPH to the same button.
They are usually never used together in the same game, and don't interfere with each other.
2) the rest of buttons that you need only from time to time (like F5 to continue, or number to start in early Konami games) can be selected from menu.
For convenience, I divided them into groups - numbers, letters, "black keys".
But, of course, setting controls at the runtime or in per-game configuration file or section is much better solution.

cesco, did you try openMSX on your Dingoo ?
mth, if you overclock Dingoo, does the sound stuttering still happen ?

Sisters, there is a new funky portable that probably can support emulation and it uses same SoC chip as Dingoo A320.
NanoNote (apparently from dudes that worked on failed OpenMoko phone, but "lessons learned" yada yada). |
