Hey, guys!
I've been playing around with MuSICa a bit, and I think I've figured most of it ("most of it"=stuff that I see myself using) out by looking at different MML sources. There are some things I don't know that bug me, though. Most importantly, I'd like to be able to apply a bit of vibrato a bit here and there without resorting to having to set it in the patch editor. Pitch slides would be nice, too.

The final problem I have is that when the song loops in the patch editor, there is a short pause. Is there a way to play it back seamlessly? I don't really mind it too much in the editor, just as long as there is a way (maybe an external player) to play it back without the pause.

As for my other MML questions I came across a lot of formats and MML flavors during my "research." Most notably, I found MGSDRV, which seems nice. Is there any English documentation for these Japanese MML types, or at least a repository of examples somewhere? I'm willing to write a tutorial or so for MuSICa once I get things straight.

Thanks in advance; I'll appreciate any answers and clues you might give!

Hello!
Could you try to use the MUSICA PC Editor/Player in what i am working?
http://www.nerlaska.com/msx/musica.html
http://www.nerlaska.com/msx/msxmusic.zip
I can give you a lot of examples of MUSICA
My idea is to have a PC Editor and extend the MML syntax (in fact i have extended it)
I want to give support for MusicModule and OPL4 too.
Please, if you are interested in help me .. contact by email with me .. my email is in the MRC Profiles.
Thank you!.

Hey, poke-1,170! Nice to see some familiar faces here.

Thank you nerlaska, I downloaded your editor and I might be able to give it a more thorough try and get back to you by mail this weekend. For now I'm very thankful for the list of commands! I see you have implemented some nice preprocessor commands ("include". I have a question though - is the @bla= instrument definition native to MuSICA or is it one of your extended commands?

Thank you for your time!
You can include "VCD" Musica Files if you want.
This VCD are imported and converted to my format.
My format: @nn = array bytes ... there is some kind of doc in the txt that there is inside the zip.

I think I "got" MuSICA now! I'm still not comfortable with composing directly in the program, but I can compose a track on the PC before "translating" it to musica. Here's my first track, recorded from an emulator: http://8bitcollective.com/music/boomlinde/Datafunk/

I'm sorry for the delay, nerlaska, but here are some suggestions for your otherwise excellent program:
* Export BGM
* Looping
* PAL 50Hz emulation mode
* Drag and drop files to load
* Automatically load VCD files with the same name as the MSD
* Test tone in instrument editor

Thanks for the help, Poke and nerlaska! I figured out how to get rid of the gaps too, using the Kinrou music driver.

ey!! your DataFunk sounds really cool!
Don't worry about the delay and thank you for your support.

* Export BGM ... well .. i generate a BGM owner not compatible with Musica. Of course, this BGM is needed for my MSX Player. You know .. i have new MML Commands, etc.
* Looping .. yes .. i can give support to looping easily .. i will prepare fastly.
* PAL 50Hz .. ok .. in the MSXPlayer(playing a BGM) it should works.
* Drag & Drop ... i will take a look
* Auto load VCD files .. you can include the VCD with the MSD file. You know .. include "bank.vcd" ... i think is better to do this in this way.
* Test tone ... ok. i think that i can do something

Let's go!

Really cool music, I've enjoyed it so much. The style reminds me the arcade version of Out-Run!

boomlinde ... if you want .. you could find another update in http://www.nerlaska.com/msx/msxmusic.zip
In this version:
* Bugs corrected
* Added LOOP
* You can test the instruments using the QWERTY keys.

Thank you!

Reeeeaaaally nice music !!!!
I must say I admire you for working out the MuSICa software ...
I downloaded it once and tried to make it work, but for the life of me, I could not understand a thing about it !
