PC Keyboard question

It is a known issue about PC keyboards that it will ignore the 3rd key input (example: Up + Left arrow + Space keys). Playing shooting games on the emulator becomes hard. I have a 1chip msx and I face the same problem with it.

I can not remap the buttons and I can not use a USB keyboard. I don't like using the joystick.

I would like to know if any of you have a working solution for this.

Any of you who knows a PS2 keyboard brand that works for sure? Thanks.

Yep, that is a known issue. I don't think there's much that can be done about it. I'm not sure whether it's a cheap hardware thing or a PS/2 issue.

In emulators you could remap the space key to avoid the problem.

It is the way the keyboards are made. It had to do with preventing ghosting or locking. I read in a previous post here that Logitech G15 "might" work. Can someone confirm this please?

Any one who had used a keyboard that works?

I have the same problem, and I've tried A LOT of keyboards with my One Chip MSX (Altera DE1 based ). Most good ps/2 keyboards allow several keys being pressed at the same time, but for some WEIRD reason, not the UP ARROW + LEFT ARROW + SPACE BAR.

I tried several Genius keyboards, and and OLD IBM keyboard (manufactured in 1985!!) with it.
My friend here has a very strange Siemens keyboard wich works great, but I can't find one for myself.

How am I supposed to kill the evil Nemesis goddess like this, huh? I need a working keyboard, too, or earth will be destroyed without remedy...

Many (but not all) Dell PS/2 keyboards do accept the UP+LEFT+SPACE combination just fine.

Current Dell USB keyboards also support the UP+LEFT+SPACE combination (test it on openMSX), but unfortunately they do not accept the USB->PS/2 adapter and so they cannot be connected to the OCM.

Many other new USB keyboards will support the UP+LEFT+SPACE, but you'll have first test it using openMSX, then test if it do support an USB->PS/2 adapter to be connected to the OCM.

Thank you all for your input. I will search for a Dell PS/2 Keyboard and will give it a try. I will also keep my eyes open for a Fujitsu Seimens one to try. I will post my results with the exact models found that work.

Recently I changed my M$ keyboard to a white Apple Keyboard. I did it because I'm using osx on regular PC along with windows and Linux.
It's one of those

Came with an old Quicksilver g4. And it shouldn't be too expensive.

For my surprise, UP+LEFT+SPACE is working perfectly. Just played nemesis 2 to test it!

Regards,

BTW1: Neither my DELL USB Keyboard or M$ USB Keyboard accepts that combination...

Thanks meffie for your input. I just bought a new one from the local market for about $40 and it works perfectly, all key combos works very well. It is a USB keyboard and I tried it on my PC using Bluemsx with Nemesis 2. I tried to attach the keyboard to a USB to PS2 adapter and windows didn't recognize it. I didn't try it on the 1chip msx with ps2 adapter yet but I think it won't work aswell. At least, I have a keyboard that works with windows for sure for now.

I used the USB to PS2 adapter that came with the microsoft mouse. I was told it would be ok but I doubt it. Any one knows otherwise? (that another adapter would be needed for keyboards that is different from mice adapters).

I have one of those, it's an excellent keyboard. Unfortunately it doesn't support the PS/2->USB adapter.

AFAIK, there are specific adapters for the mouse and the keyboard and they aren't interchangeable. Usually they have an icon over then to tell you the type of the adapter, and others use the PS/2 connector color (green for mouse, purple for keyboard)
