It can still be a remake, but remake usually implies that something has been improved.

It runs on MSX2, so it is an improvement

Well, going back on topic....

I've done both of them: released games as freeware and sold some too.
What I think is fair?

Take the ammount of work done in the game. If you worked a week on a game and it's ready to be released, then I suggest freeware.

If you're working for months or even years on a project, and you see the final product as a quality game, then sell it for a fair price.

I know that Dungeons and Dragons will be sold, because the game (in my humble opnion) rox =D

I think the 'problem' will solve itself by the way. When a developer decides to ask $50,- for an MSX game people only want to pay $10,- for, he won't sell a single copy. (well, maybe one or two ;P). If there are no sales, the developer is likely to drop the price sooner or later. looking at how well Bombaman sold, it's clear that 15 euro's was a more than reasonable price for the game. (Of course, there are still those who think the game should be free, but that's beside the point).
