I loaded up the java emulator for msx and it has support for knightmare by konami with smooth scroll.I noticed that when screen starts it has the msx1 messages, but then the game has smooth scroll.

Is it a hacked rom ?Can an msx1 scroll a game like this?

That emulator has some hacks in it to allow for some smoother gameplay in some games, plus online highscore tables for some games.

Mmm. I pointed it out in the original thread. AFAIK, it is included in the "game driver", therefore it wouldn't work on a regular MSX. Try NEMESIS 2 with smooth scroll. It also rocks!

Yeah well writing that was faster than looking up the other thread

Hmm, for some reason it doesn't work here.... (I have Java 6 installed.)

com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: http://www.gagaplay.com/jemu2/jemu2.jnlp

(I can download that file fine... strange.)

Konami did smooth scroll in space manbow using vdp tricks of 9958.Wouldn't it be possible for someone that knows to patch existing games to scroll like space manbow when a 9958 chipset is detected?

If you want to play Knightmare with smooth scroll on real MSX2, check out Knightmare Gold

No.

Space Manbow has also smooth scroll on MSX2. But on V9958 it uses the hardware border masking feature to hide the chopping side borders. That's all.

Manuel, considering your explosion of errors I won't suggest anything. Ever. Again.
But My installation of Java correlated stuff consists of
- J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 6
- J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 9
- J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 10
- Java (TM) 6 update 2
- Java (TM) 6 update 3
- Java (TM) 6 update 5
This is what I see in my "Add/Remove programs". Try to reinstall Java 6...?

Reinstalling usually doesn't help on a Linux system
