...since I can't anymore use on them one of my favourite basic programs

10 MOTOR ON
20 MOTOR OFF
30 GOTO 10

I have tried it on OpenMSX, but it does nothing... no sound at all.... I was at least hoping for a simulated "bzzzzz" sound, but I had no luck

Yeah, I know I have probably destroyed the poor tape relais on my MSX with this piece of code... but I must admit that I was fascinated by the buzzing sound produced from it
Well, I'm still fascinated also by that "CHA-CHING!" sound made when a chunk of data is completely loaded from a tape... it was (and still is) a peaceful sound, since it used to mean that a game was loading correctly

I think someone should sample that sound and ask Dvik and Manuel to include it in their emulators... well, at least it would be funny

yuck... the sound of tapes..
My brother and I sometimes were lucky enough to choose a game from the Dixon's store when we were little and our parents would pay.
Somehow though, he always picked a good tape, and I usually picked the ones that didn't seem to run on our NMS8250...
So, I don't really have good memories of tapes ;p apart from Pacman and Mappy of course

which reminds me, I should see if I can get King Balloon working now that I am older

I want to make SMD versions of the games.

In any way, In the past months I got three portable cassette players. Two of them with Radio Tuner.

To bad that the tape recorder were missing in the stores ...

The 'Bzzz'-part may be doable in an emulator, but how to get the right time for the '*klunk*' ?
And how to simulate Santa Claus providing a new cassette relay provided the user has been nice enough?

I think we've had discussions like this before. If stuff like simulation of the disk drive motor noise and the cassette relais tick make it into emulators then I want to hear:
  • the 50/60Hz buzz,
  • the noise from the VDP,
  • the mouse movement noise, and
  • that high-pitched 15Khz beep that my monitor used to make

I want to nominate the tonal VDP(?) noise/things right after the Dragonslayer 6 intro, prior to the game screens!

I'd like to nominate the VDP screen stretch (50/60Hz artifact) visual.

Oh, and besides that, a sync_to_vblank (PC vblank, that is), as 'smooth scrolls' in demos never are truly smooth here. I recall some 3DFX demo from (surely) the 3DFX guys from my windows-era, who actually managed to achieve a smooth scroll in windows. So I know it is possible. Never seen one after that, though. But that's beyond the point. Sync to VBlank and interleaved video frames, that's all I ask for

hap: please explain to me how to install BlueMSX on a linux machine

Also from my Windows era I know BlueMSX, at the time I got the feeling that it was already 'bloated', compared to openMSX. Nothing against BlueMSX though, it is probably a lot better already than it was back then. I've just got that Dutch attitude, like, never change a winning team

So, my just counts for the openMSX developers (please incorporate these features, please ) I guess
