Hello everyone,
we have this msx ( http://it.compvter.wikia.com/wiki/Sony_HB-75P ) and we would like to know if it is possible to transfer some games ( e.g.Gradious 2 from a 128kb file with extension mx1 ) via floppy from the pc to the msx.
Thank you in advance. |

Close the high-density hole on the 1.44M floppy disk, and format it on msx.
That's all.

Yes it's possible to play roms through a floppy disk on your MSX. There's a program you can download that does this, but I don't know if it will work on a MSX1. Your system just doesn't have enough memory for it.
It might interest you to get a MegaFlashRom SCC which is a cartridge with rewritable memory. With it you can play almost any game (except games with built-in SRAM) on a MSX1/2/2+/TR. You still need a floppy drive on your MSX in order to transfer the games to the MegaFlashRom.

Thank you for the fast reply.
I'll take a look at that cartridges.
Aren't there modified/hacked games disk images that can be played from floppy?

With your MSX1 you can only play ROMs via a cartridge like MegaFlashROM SCC. You can't load 128kB games in a 64kB MSX.

You can also get a Brazilian MegaRAM cart (no idea if it's still widely available) and use it with supported tools like ExecROM. It will upgrade your MSX memory and it will be able to load bigger programs.

With a 64KB MSX one can still load from disk and play many of the ROMs that are less than 64KB. For instance, MSXdev entries...
