MSX will never be established like it was in the old day. A vision of MSX 3's with VDPX' lined up next to Intel Core i7 PC systems in computer stores is just not going to happen and is a pipe dream.
MSX however is a hobby platform nowadays and is kept alive by nostalgia and love for what now is retro. MSX is just not commercially viable anymore. It hasn't been for many years. Products that can still be bought are homebrew and the price is to cover the cost of the time put in making them, not to become a multimilion dollars company
Just like VDPX, to me its fun to design it and eventually build it. While trying to keep the cost down, it should become an accessible product for any MSX hobbyist with a job. The cost will go towards the electronic components and labor put in building them, which would only be a minor increase in price compared to bare components.
The VDPX hopefully will just be a nice addition to the MSX scene to allow for easier software programming and achieve the things most programmers want: No VDP speed limitation so multilayer scrolling etc can be done with ease.
