Hey gents !

I want to convert wav samples so I can use them for the musicmodule in moonblaster.
Now jorito told me to convert them to 4 bits adpcm with audicity (thanks, that works !)
but then still the problem is that mb doesn't recognize the samples, probably because
they have the. wav extension and they're not .mbm extensions... renaming of course doesn't help...
any thoughts on this ?

.mbm is the extension for the music files, complete sample kits have .mbk as extension. I don't remember what the extension for a single sample is, but that's fairly easy to find out. Just start mbm and save one sample, then check the disk...

.mbs seems to be the sample format.... renamed it, and it loads something alright.... some crunchy data noise mesh up of what should be the sample haha... indeed it has to be mono (else it won't load), but still... it isnt what it should be

hey yeah, that's exactly what I did ( in audition), save as a 4 bit adpcm wav file...
but then what ? it was in mono, but if it has the .wav extension it's not recognized by mb,
when you want to load a sample so it seems... i renamed it, then it will load but it's just
a lot of noise, suppose it loads some messy data...

If you save it as a wav it probably still has header data. Try saving it as raw ADPCM data instead...

So, poke-1,170, are you experimenting just for fun or are you contributing to some demo or game we'd like to know about?

modern ADPCM is not compatible with the one used in by MSX-Audio...

Here is instructions, how to convert the samples... It's not too easy:

heh, yeah that was frustratingly difficult and didn't realy work either hehe...
I remember that post. Somehow some simple tool where you have an open> save as
option would be a zillion times more easy hahaha.
