I remember having lots of fun playing this game but what the hell was it really? Was it a commercial release or something someone made at home and it got spread around? Anyone know?I remember having lots of fun playing this game but what the hell was it really?

I don't think it was commercial. Smile
The whole game just breathes puberty.
The developer calls himself "children's teacher/psychologist" at the intro screen, and it states that it's "suitable for children from 8 years". Big smile

Regarding this - in a while a nice surprise for fans of this game.

Just put this in your MSX2 or higher and hope it will forgive you for feeding it that kind of crap. Big smile

Yab Yum 2 version 0.3

You can wank and 'shoot' with the spacebar. You can also just hold it down, 'auto fire' is supported.

Graphics by me (so they are horrible), but will be by yum, gfx designer known from games like Bombaman.

Possibly it will have a 2-player mode - it will have more 'puzzle' elements for sure.

As if it isn't disturbing enough now. Wink
Especially since this 0.3 beta version lacks the girls. Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

I don't think Yab Yum is that bad as a game at all. Sure, it's really childish but the gameplay is equally as good as (or bad as) several commercial titles at the time. Anyone ever looked into the code to see if it was made by someone capable or if iwas just pure luck?

Just put this in your MSX2 or higherAh, an MSX2 version. I waited 21 years for that, the version I had always crashed an MSX2. Now, where is the :wanking: smiley?

Since the game is from 1985, I guess the guy must have known something about essential MSX architecture, since not much was known then in those days.
What I do know is that he must have been a child at heart. Well, don't we all try to be? Smile

Actually, the original version was a little bit wrong for not working on most MSX2 machines.
This one is a little bit wrong for not working an any MSX1 machine. Wink

BTW, IIRC it did work on my VG-8235 and on my home-built MSX2+.

Yes, a :wank: smiley would be in order. Big smile

Would you like to develop levels for this version?

Have you downloaded the disk?

If you did, then press [ENTER] when you see the guys are wanking.
You will get in BASIC prompt.
RUN "YYEDIT"
You will see a beta version of the editor.

[SPACE] = always confirm
[ENTER] = always cancel when in a submenu, when editing always CELLS/OBJCT menu
"C" = [C]opy (copy cell to cursor location)
"D" = [D]eclare (does not work yet! Is for objects)
"B" = shortcut to [B]ump map
"Q" = clean [Q]uit - warning: program will not ask you to confirm yet, it'll just go to BASIC prompt!

First, you can go to the -SYS- menu with [F-4] and load the mapset to see/edit the level used in this version.
The game will automatically use your edited & saved version when you run it again (simply [CTRL]+[STOP], then RUN "YYENG" or just reset).

Caution: CELLS menu works perfectly but OBJCT menu not working yet! Just hit [ENTER] to exit. Always works.
Also, [F-5] to quit doesn't work for now, you can just press "Q" or do [CTRL]+[STOP].

Would you want to make some levels for it? I'll keep you in mind if you want to.

Unfortunately the disk did not work on my 'real' Philips NMS 8245 MSX2; "Direct statement in file",BA-team
but the idea of a YabYum2 sounds very very good... would be a nice entry for the msxdev! LOL!
