April Fools!

Dear MRC visitors,

We have seriously pulled your leg. On March 28th we reported IGN had acquired the MSX Resource Center. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was a 100% genuine April fools joke. For those unfamiliar with the term 'April fools': In many countries it is custom to pull practical jokes on (or just before) the first of April. If you want to know all about it, check this topic on Wikipedia.

There is, however, a serious tone to the joke we pulled. Throughout the past few years some people seem to have started to consider the MRC as a professional, commercial website with gaining money as its primary goal. This has lead to quite some confusion, discussions and the weirdest assumptions. To make things clear once and for all: MSX is our hobby, and so is maintaining this website about MSX. Just because our graphics look nice, our CMS is sleek and loads of new contents come in at a daily basis doesn't change the fact MRC is just our hobby. So, please, lighten up and enjoy MSX and the MRC as the hobby it's supposed to be!

Actually, IGN Entertainment has changed their minds : they have acquired all the rights of the MSX-PLAYer for an exclusive distribution only in United States under the trademark YAMA-PLAYer

and together with seeing this message coming especially in the very beginning of 01/04, I start thinking that this time it IS a joke.

@[D-Tail]: what do think would happen when, for example, the download database would've moved to file planet?

My guess is it would become a boycotted database. People really don't want to wait ages for a freeware download which is so small it'd take 100 times to wait for it than to actually download it, or even pay to be able to download it instantly.
