MSX Game Reader and MSXPC - more details

ASCII have released a bit more information on the design of the MSX Game Reader, namely a 3D model of its design. The Game Reader is modelled like a tiny computer, with a design which looks a lot like the Panasonic FS-A1-xx series (like the turboR).

On the same website you can also find some extra pictures of the upcoming MSXPC, inluding a picture of the inside of this compact machine. Unfortunately it looks like there's an extra PCI slot where the MSX Game Reader could be. It looks like this model doesn't have an internal cartridge slot, contrary to what we announced earlier.

The Game Reader casing looks really cool!
Reminds me a bit of those SNES backup devices Tongue

Hey!

If you go to Hans Otten's pages, members.chello.nl/h.otten/ you would find a link to a japanese page that explains how to build your own (and free) USB MSX game reader. Cool!

Indeed, you can create your own Game Reader as well. ASCII have also published some schematics in MSX Magazine 2.

Sunrise is going to make it aswell.

In what way though, I wonder, can people not like MSX Association making those things, but when Sunrise is doing it, there is no problem with it?? Or are you saying that you don't like Sunrise making hardware either? I think it's great that because of the MSX revival, we now already have one new hardware device, and hopefully there's more to come :).

Yes, and it really shows ASCII and MSX Association are not in it purely for the money, because Game Reader schematics are free!

Well goodluck to anyone who want to try it but I wonder What ESE (tusjikawa 0
thinks of it since the copyrights belong to him and ceretainly not to ASCII
We have his permission and anyone who wants to make it good luck because we can make it for a price i donot mention it because there is one part that must be cleared up.
But it will be cheaper than ASCII asks for it !

Ofcourse it will be cheaper if you don't have the same cool casing as ASCII has.
