A small bugfix for the Gradius 2 enhancement patch has been released. hap and konamiman both noticed that the small enemy explosions were still scrolling 8 pixels a time. This is now fixed, so they now scroll smoothly with the rest of the game.

The invulnerability patch and the cartridge simulation patches are optional. You just have to answer "no" when asked... (either by ExecROM or xpctools).

I used the win32 tool XPCAPPLY and it didn't ask me anything...

I think the increased difficult due to the speedup can be balanced with the "backup weapons" option. Best patch ever, I love it Smile Great work sd_snatcher.

By the way, is there any way of making Gradius 2 run in English on a Japanese machine?

Never mind- seems I can do it if I use the "European keyboard" option when I flash it to my MegaFlash SCC.

It runs much better on the real hardware, by the way. BlueMSX has a bug that causes some sprite positions to be off (mostly in the intro) and the scrolling to be kind of jumpy.

That bug will be fixed in the next release (2.8.1, to be released soon, AFAIK). Until then: run it on openMSX Tongue
