This is one of those MSX games in development that promises to be a real treat. Can't wait till it's finished Smile
It's a good step they moved to MSX2, I get fed up with all these MSX1 titles. Maybe the gfx could take a bit more advantage of the MSX2 tho...
Also the music preview was good, I'm curious what they will sound like in the proper context (in the game)!

How are the sound effects done btw, PSG only? Or on a PSG/SCC hybrid, like the music?

Well, you're sorta right: actually, all footage you see is taken from MSX1 versions, except for the intro screen and the still of the forest (the one showing the snake, bats and whip).

This music still uses our old system; PSG is merely enhanced by the SCC. The final arrangements are supposed to have 5 independent SCC channels instead of having it simply mimic the PSG (except for the noise ofcourse) with a custom wavetable.

Most sound effects are PSG only, but SCC will be used to play some samples as well (monkeys, elephants, rumbling, demonic laughter...)

Sounds very promising, I'm getting curious now! Any plans to release a new preview (video) soon(ish)?

I won't ask when the game will be finished. Bombaman took us 5 years because we needed and wanted that time, I'd rather have a well-done game than a hurried release just to be done with it.

Sure. As soon as there's some relevant progression with the MSX2 version, I'll make a new vid, containing actual gameplay only.

And indeed, it's a good thing you did so, with Bombaman. Smile

Oh, remark about the sounds: please work some more on the PSG drums Smile They are currently behind in quality with the rest of the music and could use some polishing. Why not just rip Konami's drums and take that as a starting point?

Yeah, those drums could use some improvement. These songs were actually my first (serious) works on PSG and along the lines I learned to do it just a bit better (which will show in the Core Crisis soundtrack).
How can I rip PSG sounds from Konami's?
