But it did in Giana Sisters!
@manuel: Probably due to the 16 pixel blocking. SM uses 8 pixel blocking.
The shaky borders in Space Manbow are the main reason I wear glasses. Those borders ruined my childhood.
because you like to play with the border
On my game for MSX2, the scroll shakes the border, It is ok because you play with the game not the border, I will not waste sprites to mask the border and uses for the enemies and more things.
I bought a Turbo R especially for that.
No shaky borders for me
a simple trick: with msx2 and crt monitor, you can stretch the orizontal width over the screen area!
I can always put duct tape on the both sides of the screen
yes!! you can!! hehehe!
most television sets have a overscan tolerance so pratically you do not see those artifacts.
And of course this is far better than having a blocking 8 pixel scrolling, like most msx games do.
Neither did the Higemaru borders bothered me. And this game is older than Space Manbow. And both Pennant Race 2 and Namcot's Baseball also uses this way of smothscrolling. Certainly all of them got a much smoother gameplay thanks to this.
And really, the overscan took care of the masking part back in the 80s.
Pennant Race 2 has a much better MSX2 scrolling engine without the shaky border...
@Manuel: what? (about pennant race 2)
Never mind, I am completely mistaken.
I had a turbo R before I got space manbow, so I never saw the shaky borders as I played it on the turbo R as of day 1. Hence the shaky borders could not bother me at all. Thats why I voted 'no'.
On the other hand, would I have played the game on an MSX2, then they would certainly have bothered me and I would have voted 'yes' to this poll.
Anyone care to explain to the two people new to MSX what Space Manbow is? I'm too tired.
@ two people: welcome!
This is Space Manbow, including shaky borders:
welcome to MSX!!! :)
This is on a turboR, without shaky borders and with enhancement-patch to make it smoother: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKTzdRq6eOc
after being used to the MSX1 scrolling of Nemesis, no.
I first even thought that the shaky borders are simply MSX. After upgrading to V9958 however I got spoiled and no the borders anoy me
