For the fourth year in a row an international multi-platform minigame competition is being held over here. The purpose of this competition is to create either a 1K or 4K game on NES, Plus/4, Atari 800, Atari 2600, Commodore 64/128 or VIC-20, Apple 2 or MSX.

Today a new version of Eduardo Robsy's Z80 compiler asMSX was released. In this new version a few minor bugfixes were implemented. What is more important is that it now comes with a set of easy-to-use tools that come in very handy when developing MSX software. The included tools are binDB, RLEpack, PCX2MSX and MSXwav.

A new version of Karoshi's assembler asMSX has just been released. In this new version several improvements were implemented, most notably the direct support for creating megaROMs. Several macros have been predefined, allowing you to create megaROMs easily.

Yesterday a new version of Eduardo Robsy's Z80 cross-assembler asMSX was released with the following new features:
  • Fixed a bug that prevented local symbols from working correctly in PHASEd code
  • Improved conditional assembly: new IFDEF conditional statement
  • Generates CAS files
  • Generates WAV files
  • Minor adjustements to improve stability
