You may recall the promotion video made for MSX Info Update 2010, about four months ago. It's a returning tradition, a video where a running MSX can be found in the middle of nowhere of Finland, caves not excluded. As of today, the website of the Finnish MSX meeting MSX Info Update has been updated with the latest news. The dates of this year's edition have been set to the 21st and 22nd of August 2010, Helsinki, Finland. If you fancy a good old challenge to show your skills: there will be three of them:

• Demo competition
• Music competition
• Hardware competition

Remote entries are also accepted, as long as they're sent to NYYRIKKI in time (see website). Other details concerning the competition rules can be found at the MSX Info Update website.

There's a sell/buy table, there will be plenty people around who could help you with any problems, whether related to hardware or software. If you fancy code obfuscation, you know who's there to guide you to permanent brain damage! For MSX fans who live in or near Finland: don't miss out on this event. For people who live a bit farther away: this would be the golden opportunity to visit an MSX fair, enjoy the idyllic countryside, and meet NYYRIKKI and legendary viking Ahti. What more could you possibly want? The entrance is free!

The Brazilian MSX usergroup MSXRio announced the first 2010 meeting, everyone is invited to pay this event a visit!

It will be held on March 13th, in SESC Engenho de Dentro (Avenida Amaro Cavalcanti, 1661 - Engenho de Dentro), near the railway station and the João Havelange Olympic Stadium (Engenhão). The place will be open from 10:00 to 17:30. More information about the meeting will soon be posted on their website.

As you may have noticed, Sunrise will bring quite a bunch of hardware and software to the MSX Fair in Nijmegen, two weeks from now. It may not be possible for Sunrise to bring epic quantities of every product though. So, to make sure everyone will be enabled to buy that specific piece of MSX hardware, Sunrise requests you all to inform him of the hardware you seek, upon which it will be brought to the fair! For those people who filled in a reservation form for the Nowind interface last year a Nowind will be ready and waiting! If you're not sure about that form, or if you haven't signed up yet but want to leave the fair with a Nowind, contact Sunrise.

The members of the Argentinian MSX mailing list MSX Error 51 have organized a meeting called Meeting Primavera 2009 (MSX HardwareFest) on 3rd and 4th of October. The MSXRio user group invites everyone to visit MSXRio 2009, their annual meeting of MSX users living in or around Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). This this year, they decided to have several smaller gatherings rather than a big meeting. The first one will be next Saturday, July 25, 2009. The location for this event: SESC Engenho de Dentro: Avenida Amaro Cavalcanti, 1661 - Engenho de Dentro. This is near the train station and the João Havelange Olympic Stadium, the popular "Engenhão". The biggest and still active Dutch local computer club MSX Vriendenclub Mariënberg will organize their annual MSX auction next month. During this 16th edition of the auction you can sell or bid on all kinds of MSX articles, and the entire profit goes to the seller. There's no need to register upfront, you can just visit with your MSX goods and put them up for auction at no cost. So if you're looking for cheap items -and who knows, something rare!- you may just find them there. Doors are open at 10:00 and goods to auction can be put up by 11:30. On May 30th, MSX Club West Friesland has been around for five years, after a restart made in 2004. To celebrate this milestone, everyone is invited to visit this Dutch club. Activities include a game competition with some small prizes and demonstrations of the MP3-player and SymbOS. You're invited to bring your own MSX computer to show what you can do with it. A bar with some sandwiches and drinks is present as well. The club opens its doors at 11:30.

In two and a halve weeks, the annual MSX Fair in Nijmegen will take place. This fair is the only pure-MSX fair left in The Netherlands since the discontinuation of the MSX fair in Bussum. And here's a bit o' news you may not have seen coming: the current list of participants is bigger than in previous years, so there will be more to enjoy on this event. All the more reason to pay this fair a visit, even if you are from abroad! If you feel like doing something funny on the stage, contact the organizer. After the fair, the nearby Chinese restaurant will present their food to that same old MSX gang again. If you wish to participate in this cozy feast, make sure you reserve your seat, for it's limited to 35 persons.
