Hi, hope to get some good news!

you need an 74ls145 for decoding 4 line to 10 line or 74ls154 4 line to 16

Thank you msxholder... I don't even know what 74ls145 is. Since you got both models can explain me, or to someone else in the forum, how can build a converter? We've got hc-95 and 8280 pinning... without the decoding is it possible to make it works (even not perfectly)?

it's strange because mine has this uber rare 20 pin connector:

Indeed! If you compare with RS232 connector, you'll see that pins are arranged like this:

* * * * * * * *
 * * * * * * *

While on the keyboard connector it's like:

* * * * * * * *
* * * * * * * *

That's very unusual for a sub-D connector; good luck finding one like that. Evil So unless an original keyboard can be found, you'll probably need to bypass that connector & add another one in the back of the casing.

Hi retrotechie, I've finally found this:
http://karve.en.alibaba.com/productshowimg/378444066-2100088...
Is it the male uber rare dsub connetcor of my hc-95?

What matters is not what the connector looks like, but what signals are on it & how they're used. If you compare with a few service manuals, you'll find it closely resembles keyboard signalling as used in Sony HB-F700 machines (see page 37 in that service manual).

I've found Bas Ditta site, he has a lot of hardware and modification on his shop. He's really expensive but... if we can find the right instructions from msxholder, do you think that he can build me a converter for my 8280 keyboard?

Hi to everyone! I feel really sorry for my long absence but, in this weeks I've worked (and fix!) a broken cd32+promodule.

About the keyboard I need some detailed informations:
1)I can buy a complete hb-f700 for 100 euro... obviously it's not a bargain, so can somebody explain me, in a very accurate way, why for this keyboard is easier /rather than the phillips nms 8280) to build an adaptor for hc-95?

2)Is there somebody able to explain me, step step, how to build such a converter for the keyboard?

3)I've found this:
http://karve.en.alibaba.com/productshowimg/378444066-2100088...
Is it the male uber rare dsub connetcor of my hc-95?
If needed I can post again the uber rare pinout of my keyboard socket

4)I'd like to send a PM to msxholder, because he is the only one that can really help me (cos he owns the same hc-95), but I don't know hos to do... can someone explain me?

Ps: If somebody is interested here you can buy a complete hc-95

Saying very simply ya yb yc yd must be decoded as y1 y2 y3 y4 till y10
Then re arrange the connections to make The philips 82xx keyboard function
If you want to destroy other hardware dismantle an yk10 keyboard for the cable and re wire all.

Thanks for you reply msxholder, I've tried to contact you (via pm) but it seems that it's impossible to reach you via private email.
So here's my idea: since you own the same hc-95 as mine, can you build me an adaptor for the keyboard? I will PAY FOR IT as much as you ask me, I'm just tired of this (so disappointed I can't find any solutions). I got both nms 8280 and hb-f700 keyboards, if it is needed I can buy another one.

Btw here is was the latest news from the other thread:

{mod: you can actually link to the other thread, you know that? Back in the days of mailing lists people also didn't like others to quote a meter or two worth o' screen text, only to add 'ok' at the bottom of it.. for forums it's not much different actually}

Finally I can talk to a mod, I got some questions for you. First sorry for my long post (full of quotes) but, you know, I'm really desperate and I'm trying to "talk" to a lot of experts here in the forum.
I got a big problem with the organization of the forum, let me explain:
I've received mail like this:

"bateman82,

msxholder (http://www.msx.org/users/msxholder) has sent you a message via your contact form (http://www.msx.org/users/bateman82/contact) at MSX Resource Center.

If you don't want to receive such e-mails, you can change your settings at http://www.msx.org/users/bateman82.

Message:
..."

Then I clicked on the contact form link and this:

" Access denied
You are not authorized to access this page. "

suddenly appears.

Can you explain me why? Can you solve this problem?

Thanks in advance

When I bought mine it was PS/2 only and turbo R support was still in concept. It works great on my Sony 700. Haven't tried it on any other of my MSXes yet though.
Just be sure to have the right keyboard attached to it... Not all keyboards work without flaws.

Both NYYRIKKI and Mounty recently built PS/2 mouse adapters. A keyboard adapter would be very similar (and probably have the same chip), but would use the PS/2 keyboard and MSX PPI protocols instead. You could check if they're interested on building such adapter.
