the same config work on a A1GT with 1024k and without CTRL
Yes, I know, I tested on a GT and works perfect. What happens with ST? Works with only 256k?
Perhaps ST has some bugs besides FM audio interference (hence they released GT).
Jup, same thing here. Gamemaster 2 does not work without CTRL pressed. Somehow the ST uses a bit more memory then other MSX computers. On my 8250 I can boot Metal Gear 2 with my sunrise CF inserted with 6 driver. On my ST I get an "not enough memory" error. Removing the CF (or booting with DEL) fixes this.
Disk Basic 2.01
Without CTRL A1ST 25276 Bytes free , A1GT 25271 Bytes free
With CTRL A1ST 25297 Bytes free , A1GT 25292 Bytes free
Disk Basic 1.0 ( then insert a floppy DOS1 format )
Without CTRL A1ST 23414 Bytes free , A1GT 23409 Bytes free
With CTRL A1ST 24972 Bytes free , A1GT 24967 Bytes free
ST have more than memory all the time !!
@guantxip
This is a known bug on GameMaster2. The MSX IPS archive has the patch to fix it.
Today I was in Mesias home testing the rom with the patch and doesn't work. Only with CTRL. More info about this patch?
That patch fixes some minor bugs (text and logo), but don't fix the Game Master 2 initialization problem.
On ST the RAM boot code is overwriten by the BASIC FCB initialization rutine. On GT works by a matter of luck.
And on other MSX'es? Does it work by luck or is there something fundamentally different on a turboR here?
