I think XP is just as retro as MSX 
Maybe people can start a XP.org community to offer support for XP 
XP is the best OS Microsoft did.

But seriously, the only reason not to upgrade to Win 7 or 8 is your machine not supporting it (like, having a Pentium III with 512MB RAM or something like this). For staying retro, the MSX world is more than enough, thanks.

You don't use your PC only to emulate a MSX, right? If so, why you don't simply use a MSX? 
Not only that. My PC is not so old, but almost. And I'm using Linux+Wine to run software that my XP is not even able to run
I'll stay with XP + Linux until this PC dies.
Yeh... malware, all Windows always had it, with or without support.
This is not only about malware. This is about security bugs that will not get fixed, meaning that people may be capable of taking over and controlling your computer from a distance without you knowing it. Including stealing all data, transaction data from web sites, using your PC in a botnet, etc.
The best thing is that the security holes will be published but not fixed. So everyone knows about them.
