Since my involvement in translating "Zoo" into english, I was wondering what more games are dutch. I remembered Kinderen van de wind .
On MSX this game is only release in French and dutch. I opened it with a hexeditor and found it had quiet some text. Translating it would be a huge task. Then I searched the net and discovered this game was released on several other platforms like amstrad, amiga, c64 and dos. The latter was in english. Strange thing is that the dutch version would be called "Children of the wind" when translated correctly, but in all other languages it prenounced as pasengers (or travelers). Anyways, having an already translated version, makes translating a bit easier and faster. Looking at the dos files and msx files, they appeared to be almost identical. All the text are in textEx.bin files. So in a kind of silly attempt, I took the dos bin files and overwrited the msx files with it. Not expecting much, I booted the game and... it started nicely in English. OKAY, that was a quick translation! Not convinced it would be so easy, I started to play the game with a walkthrough of the dos version. It all went okay, until chaper 2 the harbor. Here other questions are asked then in the walkthrough and I got stuck. Looks like the msx version differs from the dos version a bit.
So the quesion is "Is there a walkthrough for the msx version" so I can playtest the game to discover if the translation went okay. Secondly, you can download the translated version here.
I know there will be people talking about copyrights and apperently making an IPS patch solves these issues, but I don't know how to make such a patch. So if someone can make that patch you are free to put it online somehwere. I will then remove the downloadlink and we all pretend I never put it online at the first place :)
