it's about a real physical disk right?

;-) I meant the part to put it on real floppy on pc, but it is clear now.
I agree
with Manuel, it has to be working on msx at least.

Bought a new pc, now running windows 10, but got no IDE port on the motherboard for my 3.5" diskdrive, so going to buy a PCI card for that. Anyone knows if Windows 10 makes problems with 720kb disks? Or does is accept it like win7?

IDE is for connecting a Parallel ATA (PATA) Harddisk, the predecessor to SATA. What your looking for is not IDE but a FDD controller, and I don't think those exist in PCIe form factor.
As such your only choice would be a USB FDD, but my understanding is that those may have their own problems with non-HD (1.44MB) disks.

I believe mine was ripped from broken Atari ST... It was plug & play, but I needed to change the cable to longer one as the connector was upside down compared to original drive... and warning also that the screw holes in the original TEAC drive are not in standard locations. You probably need to build your own mounting adapter for the new drive.

Indeed, I've heard that people have had problems... I've been using TEAC USB-floppy branded as IBM and I've had no problems with it. Just last week I tested it with WIN10 and it worked fine also there.

Also found the Freecom externe FDD 1.44MB black USB, the datasheet says it support 720kb/1.44mb disks, so for most fine, not to sure about 360kb disks however.
I am gonna buy this one. Smile

That one looks very familiar. I have the exact same one here somewhere. Have not used it in years, as I use emulators for all the old stuff. The last time I used it was to boot MS-DOS on some old piece of hardware to flash it's BIOS.

I have a TEAC FD-05PUW usb floppy, which looks identical to the one Nyyrikki has a pictuure of, except mine does not have the IBM logo. Works fine with DD disks =)

I can also confirm, there are 1.44MB only USB floppy disks. This one changes the block device size according to the hole being present or not on the disk, another one I had, didn't (but always assumed 1440kb).

I know TEAC has sold floppy drives at least from year 1982, so I think they know how to implement the compatibility correctly. Smile
