Let's try a different perspective then: tfh would you be ok with it if this game was Eggbert? An enhanced rerelease, sold without your permission, you get no money in return. Price 34 euro, taking costs into consideration:
- enhanced walking sound: 2 euro
- enemy destroyed sound: 5 euro
- well known Fony's font added: 5 euro
- photoshop artwork: 10 euro
- hardware costs: 12 euro
You don't have to buy it. If you don't like this just walk away.
LOL.. Honestly? Well.. I'd be the wrong person to ask. I was only responsible for some music score & testing of Eggbert and never received a penny for it. Never was in it for the money and never will be.
If someone would make an "enhanced" version and put it on a cartridge I personally couldn't care less. I don't know about Collin & Stefan though. They are the ones responsible for the biggest part of the game. They might feel differently about it.
New enhanced version do not need SCC.
It use PSG + embedded SN76489 sound chip of the cartridge. So new sound effects were added and the music is never muted.
One big miss of the Colecovision version was there is no sound where player fire on...
We add the same type of sound as on the Arcade version... a very loud blaster sound... I like it so much !
The SN76489 probably does the job a lot better compared to the SCC in this case. The original conversion is a lot more basic I guess compared to the new enhanced version!
Personally I don't mind fan remakes or ports of old games, if they are released for free. Making profit from it is disrespectful to Konami.
I always have to laugh when someone assumes that anything done for the MSX might still be done for "profit" motives.
Given a 20 cartridge runs and the time invested in making it, the people involved would probably earn more money sewing socks in a Chinese sweatshop... So yay greed!
My greed? Nah, I'm not interested playing this game on MSX. I just think reselling copyrighted material without permission is questionable, at the least. As for making money from MSX, If I take Kai's word for it, making MSX games brings dinner to his table.
For those interested in Gyruss this was a C experiment done with Oscar Kenneth

Use on msx with OPL audio

The game would be better with a more adequate music. Also the stars effect kind hyperespace would be better when the stage is cleared (When the ship moves to another area).
Thanks for suggesting but I do not plan further developments
I would like to order the blue version. I also sent you a PM about it.
