I meant specifically OPN’s extended CH3. Emulating OPNA with full extended CH3 would need 9 FM channels. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 as 4op, but CH3 could be 4op (6 channels needed) 2x2op (7 channels needed), 2op + 2x sine (8 channels needed), or 4x sine (9 channels needed, too many). For OPN, you’d only need 6 max.
As for the OPNB-B, only one Taito arcade board used them, so unless they can get a source for those that isn’t just fakes or remarked OPNA/Bs (not many on ebay, and all are remarks with date codes of 9124/25 or 1713) then they’re gonna have a hard time, and the carts will be super expensive. I also still don’t see the logic in not just using YM2203 or going all out with OPNAs instead of making their lives so complicated with a chip that is basically useless (there are ZERO 2610/2610B tools) needing an additional FPGA to get OPNA features. It’s safe to say I won’t be buying one of them. If this cart is the only hope for OPNA, I’m very disappointed.
Ah CH3, gotcha, no that’s not emulated. Not used too often though.
About OPNB-B, not sure how many fakes are there, I got a couple from the same source I got my OPNAs, and at least all the OPNAs are legit despite looking a bit sketchy (filing marks on the surface)...
VGMPlay does play all 6 OPNA channels on SFG, but there’s no samples support of course.
I tried playing VGM files from Snatcher on PC8801/YM2608 (which is OPNA, right?) on a CX7 with SFG-05 but vgmplay-msx will not output anything. Is this supposed to work? I sort of got that from your post here...
@sdsnatcher73: You need to make a development build, I haven’t done a release since I implemented that. YU-NO also works decently, it doesn’t use the ADPCM, a few drums are missing but a lot of the drums are done through FM so it’s not too noticeable.
@sdsnatcher73 - i will send you the last development build by email at evening, if you want

Always! Has this been added recently? I built from source max. 2 weeks ago... or is it not in master branch?
It's been in there for several months already, on the main branch...
Are you sure you're on latest? Contrary to git, Mercurial pull doesn't automatically update... Issue hg update -B @ afterwards (or use hg pull -u).
I cloned the repo again, built from scratch on a linux machine and now it is playing. Sounds are just wonderful! Keep up the good work! Which one is YU-NO?? Google get's confused if I search for it What is the chip identifier (like YM2608 for OPNA)?
I mean YU-NO. Great soundtrack. I like tracks 13, 21, 26, 32, 46 and 67 best.
Hmm.. No 11. Movement & 77. Travel in your list?
