On Saturday March the 17th, the new Homecomputermuseum in Helmond opens its door. Free admission on this opening day.

The HomeComputerMuseum is a new museum in Helmond, the Netherlands. Offering an interactive time trip through the history of the (home) computer and related devices through rooms in style of the relevant years through posters, wallpaper, carpeting and agencies. With a specialised repair shop for museum items as well as external (old) computers and an arcade café, this museum is unique in the Benelux.

And, MSX is showcased among the many other systems, which include for instance systems from Acorn, Apple, Atari, Commodore, Sinclair and Tandy.

It is a knowledge and expertise centre in the field of all computers from 1975 onward. The HomeComputerMuseum can also play an educational role by displaying a history of what is and was used daily.

The museum moved to a new premises in Helmond at the beginning of February, and I was in the area this weekend and decided to go and have a look with my son.

It was very spaciously setup, and lots of systems from the 70's and 80's. And unlike most museums you actually are allowed to touch the majority of systems and play games and such on them.

For the MSX perspective, I have seen the following systems

Running:
- Philips VG-8020 with Salamander (but the colour monitor was very dull)
- Sony HB-F700P with King's Valley II (MSX1 version) with BW display
- Philips NMS-8250 with the full MSX Audio setup with music keyboard
- Panasonic FS-A1GT running Metal Gear 2 (translated)

The Sony and Panasonic were running from MFR cartridges, while the Philips was running from a cartridge without label that appeared in bad condition and regularly hung when you pressed the joystick buttons (seemed to run fine when played from the keyboard).

On show, standing next to each other on a large table, but not connected.
