Now it could be that the person didn't know about the MFR or knew about it and though 'hey that's a good name! let's use it for my product too!' either way... this stuff should not happen even in a small scene like the MSX one.
I look to use a full SD card form factor and not sure if it's has SCC or a memory mapper etc.
There are two very different types of cartridges in that box:
1) MegaFlashROM compatible
It's based on the classic model that was just a mod on Konami cartridges. It has nothing to do with the FPGA-based MFRSCC+SD. But AFAIK this cartridge is based on a Konami4 cartridge version.
2) SD-Mapper interface
Not sure if it's the 512KB or the 1MB model though. I'm under the impression that it's an 1MB model.
All of these projects have been provided as open source and can be freely built by anyone.
Funny enough, all of these cartridges with SCC implementations on FPGA that are being "defended" here seem to be based on K. Tsujikawa's work taken from 1-chip MSX codebase. Nobody remembers that, right?
Projects resumed/based/copied on the others are common on MSX. MegaFlashRom is not an original project. The first MegaFlashRom has been made by Tsujikawa (based on his Mega-ESE-RAM). The difference is that it has been improved/changed progressively. Now SCC and other chips have been integrated in FPGA as for the MSX1chip also developed by Tsujikawa.
The real problem is that only few people have the honesty to say what their project is based on. Some even make-up and give vague information to the sale to make buyers fantasize.
Seems some people have difficult reading or understanding. If you check MFR user's manual you can see that K. Tsujikawa worked on them. In fact, he developed them with me. So it is a product he is aware of, he helped in the development and I have his authorization for producing them.
So... nobody remenbers that, right? I hear nothing but silence? who is not honest?.... Silence....
