Of course every machine has it’s own background and history, and as such has aged differently. But in general this should not be an issue imho.

Last week I found out I accidentally had a philips nms8245 running for 4 weeks non-stop. And it had Hyper Olympics loaded. So don't you worry about 12 hours ^_^

Make sure it can get rid of the heat it produces and it should be fine.

Of course all hardware as old as this can break. However I think leaving it off does not really prevent it from breaking, actually I it can cause it to break! Leaving it on for an extended period might give the capacitors a good refreshing work out.

how do you just "accidentally" leave an MSX running for *weeks* without noticing?

This MSX is in a 'pied a terre' I hadn't been in for weeks. Forgot to turn it off last time I left ^_^
