Floppy disk drive formats disks, won’t boot games

I was able to realign the original floppy disk drive in my A1 WSX. It will format disks as a test so I know it’s working but it won’t boot games. My external floppy drive won’t boot games either. Any idea what’s causing this?

Does it read the files you saved with it before?

Write a dummy program in basic, save it to a just formatted floppy disk and try to load it back.

Well I created a game save from one of my games. The saved game loaded from the disk, and the file was still on the disk when I checked it in MSX BASIC. Now as of this writing the external floppy drive started booting up my games again. What in the actual hell?
