Just got one of these and the machine is amazing. Well built and the superimpose feature is very cool. Thing is, as expected, the machine came with no disks, no manual, nada. I am wondering if anyone would have a copy of the disks and/or the manual so I can understand which software to use to create little things like subtitles, animations and so on.
Any help is appreciated!

Isn't the HB-F701 a MSX-1 system? The software mentioned here is for MSX-2 so I don't know if this will work.
The HB-F701FD is indeed a MSX-1 system, the software you are looking for is HIT BIT ART which was distributed with this system. But unfortunately I haven't seen any dump of this disk yet :(

If that is not the right one, I can indeed dump it.
And yes I do believe the software is indeed the HIT BIT ART. Someone must have it I am sure.
Based on the article on page 172 of the MSX Magazine, March 1983, it is indeed HIT BIT ART. It was part of the F701 ROM but the 701FD, as it came with a floppy drive, the software came on disk. Of course I have the 701FD with NO DISC. Dang. Maybe the ROM I posted is the F701 but in this case I have no clue if it would be possible to somehow get it off the ROM.
Ah, the wiki claimed that it wasn't dumped, but I think would be nice to redump them with the tools from this thread, because it will also give the emu dev's some more information (section b of the readme in that zip file with the provided tools, slot layout, default color palette etc). Then we can create an openMSX config for it with the correct information.

Very good question. I have no clue. If anyone has whatever software the other machines used, I can certainly try.
There is some Video Titling software for the Pioneer PX-7UK. And quite some Japanese "Telop" software. So indeed, the question is whether it's compatible. Would be very interested to learn more about this machine!
