Hello,
I have a small collection of original konami cartridges and I noticed some differences in the cases of the cartridges.
for example: konami's football cartridge is from, late 1985 but has a bacon strip logo at the back, my knightmare cartidge is from 1986 and has a old logo at the back.
I think that the old cartridges still were made after 1986? just wondering. has konami mixed together old an new cartridge cases? and does it affect the value?

I don't have an answer for you, but I can say that there are variations in the different releases (JP and EU) as well as delayed releases (games that were designed earlier, but released later) that may result non-uniform distribution of carts across regions and release dates.

As to whether it affects value - I suppose that depends on the buyer. Early Konami games don't really fetch much value (except for outliers like Cabbage Patch Kids and Frogger). The value of the game itself (as well as condition, whether it has a box, etc) seems to outweigh value of the actual cart. Konami games are hard to disassemble without damaging, so there's not much of a chance of a case being counterfeited - as there is with NES, SNES, etc.

If I understand correctly you're wondering about the black plastic cart case types. What I have noted the old type still was in production (or there was a left-over stock of them?) still in early 1986, but after that year it was not used. For example Gradius (known release month July 1986) I haven't seen with the older case. I have tried to collect the variations of these versions and there are quite many games which do exist in both older and newer type of the cart. This is likely due to several production runs for games which sold well - first prints came out in older format and when the stock was used, but games still sold enough well, the new print was made in the new case.

The type of plastic cover does not affect the value, at least significantly, what I have noted.

Do you have a pic of your "older" Knightmare?

Here are some pics knightmare with older case and gradius/nemesis with older case and sky jaguar with newer case.

Thanks for reply, I don't think there either fakes because of the value, these cartridges are still fun to collect due to the value, I picked up 3 konami cartridges with box and manual for 35 euro's (sky jaguar, football and track field 2) last week, people clean up their houses here in the netherlands, so you can find a lot of msx stuff now.

Ah, you mean only the text part in the case. Those all cases in your pics are the "new type", just the text differs.

Here is a pic of the old case I was talking about (note how the left side of cartridge looks):

Yes, indeed i mean the text part, I have those old cases also as hyper sports 1 and track&field2. I think that we got in europe the later versions, for what i can remember, my dad bought a philips vg-8020 in 1986 second hand and a tape of copies, 2 years later a nms 8255 with a printer also second hand, a decent computer for school, and they where realy expensive, at the time, me and my brother saved money so we could actualy buy a konami game. So we get to the computer store dixons and we wanted to buy f1-spirit but that was't availbe anymore instead we bought metal gear. As we get home my dad feaked out first of all we did't bought the game we wanted and came back with a war game, what costs a fortune.

Yeah, but the excitement of having the game really tempert at the time, and i had to convince my dad that it really is a good game after a while he was ok that we bought it. I think it's more that is was really a costly game and we could not wait for a other game.( also it was the only game the store had, didn't sell well at the time).
I've resently bought F1-spirit and I said to my dad i finally have F1-spirit took me 30 years but i have it. He laughed.
