Would be nice if the recording codec would be 64-bit as well then? Although the codec is downloaded separately, there is a link here?

Well, I use the newest OpenMSX with wine and as I have also the 64bit-variant installed the 64bit-OpenMSX works fine for me, but there may be a lot of peopele who just have 32bit Wine installed because it is recommended for stability reasons.

Why do you use Wine for openMSX if you can have it in Linux natively?

Because up to now the newest available version on Linux Mint is 15.0. I know there will be a flatpak soon and I will definetly try this out but until now I didn´t dare to compile it myself. So maybe my advice is still to be considerated though.

But it’s not a common usage I think for a cross-platform application. And it will still run in wine-64.

Is it troublesome or time consuming to support? I personally have one or two older computers running 32 bits Windows because they are old and like to use them for retro gaming, wouldn't be the end of the world as I have other computers running Windows and Linux 64 bits, but I think that some people still use old machines with a Core 2 Duo as an example running 32 bits systems just for old stuff and some emulator ls. But sure enough it is a corner case and probably few (if anyone) will complain about it, I know I wouldn't being able to use 64 bits OSs

I have no problems with that, I use a virtual win XP machine for some tricky stuff, but I haven't used a OpenMSX 32bit on it since years now.

WindowsXP support has been dropped a while ago - I got tired of installing a massive directX library just to use a few components. As for compiling openMSX on linux - would it help if I would provide a script that does that for you? I have a script that just pulls the current source and compiles it. If there are any tutorials out there to create flatpacks I'll give that a try too (I am on Ubuntu myself)

Compiling on Linux is pretty straightforward: install the developer packages of the dependencies en run make install. It's described in the Compilation Guide on the website.

Flatpak is on flathub, I think.

Oh, I didn't know it was in flathub (https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.openmsx.openMSX). Great!

I tried to compile it in my Gentoo Linux machine without success. Knowing that there is a flatpak binary, I'll try it.
