Multicontroller board from Russian Bear Service Crew (rbsc) construction help

I'm about to start building one of these boards ( IDE + FDD), but I have a number of doubts
I can source the board from Spain ( thanks Jordi from https://msxmakers.design.blog/)
I can program the eeprom with my mini-pro programmer, and I have bought a usb blaster to program the Altera PLD through the JTAG port
Can somebody document how you program the PLD?
I have found you need to use a program ( Quartus), but have no idea what version ( I would not use it to design , just to program the chip), or what options I need to install . I have Windows and Linux computers, which version is better?
I assume the altera firmware is the .pof file under /firmware?

Make sure your version of Quartus II is old enough to still support the CPLD used. The .pof file is indeed the file you need.

For upload the firmware, sufficient Quartus II Web Edition (Free) 15.0:

The program works great in Linux and Windows.

I would advice to download Quartus from Intel, older versions are still available.

I have snother question regarding the components
I need to buy a compact-flash connector, but there are a few different ones
The BOM only says: CF-50P (CF slot)
Can somebody point me to the right one?

Hi
Need some help
Just downloaded and installed Quartus Application on Windows, also installed drivers for my USB Blaster
After selecting the pof file I try to program but it fails, as it cannot find the device
I have checked the board and cannot see anything wrong - unless the chip is itself damaged
Can somebody confirm I don't need to supply board to the board - as it is powered by th USB Blaster?
Any help will be appreciated

USB Blaster can't power the board. You need to power up the board with external 5v, otherwise you won't be able to upload the firmware. If Autodetect of the Altera chip in Quartus doesn't work, then either the chip is busted or it is not powered.

I will try that
I wasn't sure, as I have programmed other chips through a jtag interface and they tell you not to power them up!
I hope this solves the problem!

Unfortunately it didn't work!
I plugged 5V, but still cannot detect the chip
I even tried with another new chip, same thing
Does the board need to be unpopulated to be able to program it?
I ask, because I already soldered the WD Floppy disk chip, and had the rom also
I did try removing the rom from its socket, but to no avail
This is getting really frustrating
