Now that all issues of MSX Mozaik are available, I would like to collect all listings that are inside. This is a shoutout. If you have any of these on your old disks, please send them to me.

I'm also thinking about how to share these and let others contribute. One possibility would be GitHub. Would it be a problem on that site that the files are not mine? Any opinions on this?

Good idea. And maybe on a broader level: there are quite a few magazines that had listings back in the day. Some of them have been released on disks or even cassettes by the magazines themselves, but other ones might not have been digitally preserved yet. The same questions for that as Briqunullus asks may apply.

Exactly. And I'm willing to do other magazines as well. But first let's get a good infrastructure for it. Any input on that is highly appreciated.

Github might seem like a good idea but I don’t think it is due to copyright issues (whether or not companies choose to enforce or not). Maybe TFH can add a folder and allow you guys to upload?

Sure I'd happily provide space for that.

I wouldn't mind helping out either. I guess we'll have to keep track somehow of who does what as well.

I help out with the TSX team, they use Trello for managing the work.

Thanks to Manuel we have made a flying start. I have quite a few listings from 1985 already. For now I have put them here. Please don't link to this page, its location may change.

Missing listings have been given a .missing extension. If you have those please contact me.

There are still many files left of what Manuel sent me, I'll post an update when I get another year done.

Update time! I have processed all of Manuel's stuff and I discovered many other listings have found their way to various Public Domain collections. So I managed to find quite a few on the Millenium CD's.

That still left a lot of them unavailable, especially the smaller utilities. So I have OCR'd all of them and started correcting them by hand. At the moment, there's only 13 (of about 160) listings missing. If you have any of these, please contact me. Also, if you're in the mood to process one of the OCR'd files, go ahead!

  • Videobanden database (1986-2 p17)
  • Hindernisbaan (1986-3/4 p7)
  • Tekenen 3 (1986-3/4 p22)
  • On-line (1986-5 p5)
  • Machinetaal monitor (1986-5 p12, though I found a version that's a few months older)
  • Klaverjascompetitie (1988-6 p36)
  • Ganzenbord (1989-1 p10)
  • Zeeslag (1989-2 p10)
  • Go (1989-2 p32)
  • 3d tennis (1989-3 p18)
  • Zombie eiland (1989-3 p26)
  • Ganzenbord (1989-4 p14)

Also, the magazine has had 3 programming contests. None of these has had their results published completely. But I think I have reproduced the contests of 1985 and 1987. Sadly, the winner of 1987 is missing. It's the game Fusion, made by Guido van Gelder. The closest thing I could find was a file NOFUS.BAS, printing out "Fusion can be found on the other side of this cassette".

The contest of 1986 has a short overview of the best programs, but I could only find 3 of them. Luckily I have found the winning program, if you know of any other please let me know.

And finally, the magazine sold a utility called GOVRAM, made by C. Machielsen. The author explains his utility in MSX Mozaik 1987-2 on page 21, but I haven't found the utility itself. It is said to give the MSX some IBM properties, by adding the CHAIN and COMMON commands to MSX-Basic. If anyone has any information or the tool itself, please tell about it or share the files.

The archive can be found at tfh's download site. If you encounter any errors (I can't test them all) I'd happily update the archive.

P.S. The link in my previous post has become obsolete.

Looking forward to meeting you next week in Nijmegen!

1986-2: VIDEODB.BAS

1986-3/4: HINDRNIS.BAS and TEKENEN3.BAS

1986-5: MONITOR2.BAS and ONLINE.BAS
