Again wrong
"kh" is not pronounsed as "k", but rather as "h" (Sakhalin is not Sakalin)
"cax" is written in russian letters - "c" is a russian version of "s", "a" is "a", and "x" is "h", but, according to transliteration rules, "kh" should be used, because just "h" is usually pronounced differently than "kh". (erm... spanish name Jose I will transliterate as Khose...)
Uuufff, it's so hard to explain. Arabian people will have more problems understanding me, because they have a number of "h"-alike letters and sounds in their language... and in Ukrainian there is no"g" - they use "h" instead (and it sounds more like an english one).
But anyway, let's have this discussion outside Symbian emulator thread.
Back to the topic
I made a 6600 specific version of the emulator that uses the sound driver directly and it works slightly faster. At least PSG sound is ok when using raw display mode on a 6600 now.
I'm not releasing a new version of the emulator yet, though. I'll make it a part of the 0.97 release later but I want to add something else to the 0.97 release than just this update for the 6600 -- so it will be something like 0.97a for "older" phones and 0.97b for 6600...
Oh man... The 6600 is almost the perfect phone... 3650 is cool, but his keypad just sucks... And of course, there is the problem with the sound support in Symbian 6.1...
Btw Jr, do you know if Symbian 6.1 applications are compatible with the 7.0 version? If both phones are "Series 60", it would be compatible, isn't it?
Basically yes, almost all 3650/7650 software runs as-is on 6600, they are binary compatible. Some APIs are "emulated" on the 6600 to make it compatible with the older version -- the sound system for example (the old API still works but in reality the whole architecture of the multimedia subsystem has been changed).
There are some exceptions where binary compatibility has been broken, those are described in a document that is available at Forum Nokia.
Personally, I can't believe the whining on the Forum Nokia discussion boards where some people are insisting that the WAP/MMS/GPRS doesn't work. RTFM... everything works on my 6600 =)
BTW, perhaps someone could make a cool MSX "skin" for the 6600 UI =)
Sah(CAX)! Nu na Huya? Takoy nick na ENGLISH SITE? Ty po moemu prosto KEKS posle Etogo!
I named CAX is "KEKS" from NOW!
Jr, I see yesterday 6600 and it work very slow.. Processor don't endurance 65536 !!! AND SYMBIAN 6.1 PROGRAMms works on him with many different errors..! fMSX sound on 6600 is BAD!!!
Yes, I know. I'm trying to speed it up and I've already improved it but it's not at the same level with 7650/3650 yet.
And what comes to other Symbian OS 6.1 based programs, usually if they don't work correctly on 6600 it's because the programs have been written badly or assuming too much about the environment (something like if you consider a Windows program that assumes that Windows has been installed to C:Windows directory).
Oh..Jr, you know reason, what 6600 is slowly? Slowly in Main menu!!!
Why sound heards bad? Musical processor is more better?
I don't know exactly why fMSX is running a bit slower on 6600, but apart from the sound support I think it's running fast enough.
Having heard all of this, I better remain with my 3650 for now (anyway no money to buy the 6600
). I think that Symbian OS is the worse in operating systems... But is the only one standard for mobile devices. I think that the Microsoft Phones with Windows CE can be a serious competitor if Symbian Ltd doesn't enhance the stability and architecture of the Symbian OS.
I'd prefer MSX OS.
