Hi Daiku,
First of all, the GFX9000 ships the V9990 chip instead of the V9978 (does that one even exist? I only heard rumors about it...). The V9990 is incompatible with the V99x8, both the pin-outs and the package doesn't comply with the V9938/V9958. You really need a V9958 to upgrade to MSX2+ and ideally, you should get the BASIC 3.0 ROM with that as well.
The Graphics 9000 are a graphic card, it includes the chip of Yamaha VDP V9990, it is compatible with the MSX2, and it allows but resolutions that the MSX2+, comes with the interprets G-BASIC to program in basic.
It is necessary to have a rgb switch monitor, or of two monitors to use it, one for the MSX2 and the other one for the Graphics9000. Once written the program in G-BASIC and to press RUN, the out signal is made by the cartridge.
I use it with a NMS 8280, and it is a marvel, there are games and available applications for the cartridge.

A greeting
there are games?
for GFX9000 ???
how many???
The card is compatible to msx2, NOT the V9990, that is totally different by any other msx chip
we mean very different things:
You can use the card on any msx2 and above BUT
no existing SW not intended for V9990 will use it
Moreover you cannot replace with a V9990 the vdp
of an existing msx2 and above, they are not compatible
both in HW and in SW.

Battle Bomber ( a BomberMan version for the Graphics 9000 )

It is the same thing that I say in my answer of above, the cartridge is compatible with MSX2, MSX2+ and Turbo-R. And it can be programmed and to be used without problems.
I don't say that the original chip of the MSX2, MSX2+ or Turbo-R can be replaced with that of the cartridge GFX 9000, I say that with this cartridge same resolutions and superiors can be obtained those of the MSX2+.
