Today a new version of Eduardo Robsy's Z80 compiler asMSX was released. In this new version a few minor bugfixes were implemented. What is more important is that it now comes with a set of easy-to-use tools that come in very handy when developing MSX software. The included tools are binDB, RLEpack, PCX2MSX and MSXwav.

After releasing several patches for ExecROM today and earlier this week a new version of ExecROM itself was released by Adriano Camargo Rodrigues da Cunha as well. ExecROM can be used to load ROM files into a MegaRAM cartridge.

Scritron Digital Contents announced they will release a very special box with 8 cds and 1 DVD full of classic sounds from arcade and console games from the 80s and 90s. The eighth (bonus) disc is a special MSX cd which contains Konami shoot'em-up soundtracks.

More ExecROM patches

Earlier this week a set of 10 Execrom patches were released by Adriano Camargo Rodrigues da Cunha. These patches can be used to run MSX games from MegaRAM cartridges and sometimes add optional cheats. As of today 7 new ExecROM patches are available.

The Russian Yamaha YIS-805/YIS-503 MSX computers have a rather unique feature for MSX computers. As they were used for educational purposes, they were designed to work in a student/teacher network and were thus equipped with a network module. tnt23 has recently figured out a way to connect MSX computers with such network modules to the RS232 port of a PC using a fairly easy-to build device.

EatBlue! 2004 level editor 0.1

MSXKun just finished a level editor for the MSX ROM he made himself: Eat BLue! 2004. This ROM was part of the MsxDev'04 competition and is able to load user levels. And as of now it's possible to create those levels with the leveleditor.

10 days before Christmas we got the idea to do a nice theme-based music competition. The MRC MuSiXmas Challenge was born. In Christmas spirit, every contestant would get one prize by default: a cool MSX button. The winner of the challenge (soon to be announced) wins an extra prize: ASCII's MSX Magazine 1 (including MSXPLAYer).
