SLotman has posted 49 pictures of the MSXRio event, which took place on the 27th and 28th of September, on his website. He also links to MSXsite, where another photo report of this Brazil MSX Meeting can be found.

Maggoo released a new version of the universal platform game engine called Vscreen. This engine is very good education for ASM coders (as the sources are included), but its main goal is to allow people with limited development skills to create their own platform games. A demo game is included.

Both ROM renamers GoodMSX1 and GoodMSX2 have been updated. The MSX1 version now recognizes and correctly (re)names 589 MSX1 ROM games, while the MSX2 version does the same for 166 MSX2 ROM games.

Sjoerd Mastijn, developer of the second Moonsound tracker Realfun, is working on a Z80 assembler that started as a replacement for TASM to develop software with. Currently Sjoerd has decided to release SjASM (as the assembler is called).

Since it might be useful to others, he decided to put it online on their website.

The Z80/R800/Gameboy cross-assembler tniASM by The New Image has received some more requests on the #msxdev IRC channel. This version brings support for spaces surrounding registers in indirect accesses, PUSH and POP allow a list of registers and the DC pseudo instruction.

In this forum thread we could already see the first announcements and specifications of MicroWAVer, an ultra-fast cassette loader for MSX. MicroWAVer uses Windows 9x or Windows XP. By connecting your PC to your MSX cassette port you can load cassette games (WAV files) a lot faster than with standard cassettes.

Enrico Barbisan pointed us to this website where one can view 37 pictures taken on the Spresiano retrocomputing meeting which was held on September 28th, 2003.
