Scene Music Remake Challenge 2 - Results

It's taken a while, but here they finally are: the results of the second edition of the Scene Music Remake Challenge. In this challenge, musicians were invited to pick a piece of MSX music from an MSX scene composer of their choice and rearrange/remix it with whatever equipment they like.

KSS-X Update

Valken let us know that he updated his KSS player for MacOS X, KSS-X. This release fixes some compilation errors on Mac OS-X 10.5 and adds support for the Apple remote, so you can zap through your KSS collection from your comfortable chair.

Kier Kracht's MSX DVD 2

MSX Posse have published a torrent file of the second DVD from Kier Kracht. On this DVD are videos from various MSX meetings dating back into the 90's, the golden years of the MSX scene.

A while ago, Amusement Factory Software released version 1.1.0 of Ghosts'n Goblins for MSX. This new release fixes a number of bugs and you should now be able to play the game on real MSX1 computers.

Sim City

From Amusement Factory Software comes an MSX port of a game which the MSX seemed to have missed over the years: Sim City! This is a port from a game originally made on the Spectrum computers, and contains quite some extras compared to the original version.

A while ago, we reported about the MSX Rio 2007 photoshoot. The highlight of that meeting was a demonstration of the VDU (Video Display Unit) project: four stacked V9958 chips for four scrolling layers, four times the video memory and four times the sprites.

A new version of the cross assembler Sjasm has been released. New in this version:

  • Fixed WHILE loops
  • Improved code part sort
  • Added check on negative page numbers

MSX Posse have just published three more videos from Kier Kracht on their website. The videos are taken from Kier Kracht's second DVD and show meetings of the MSX Club West-Friesland, way back in 1992.
