mesiasmsx has announced in our active MSX Forum that the next Barcelona MSX Users Meeting (known as RU) organized by the MSX Friends Association is going to be held on the 28th of April, 2007 in the Cotxeres de Sant

Together with the first project announcement the first sponsor has donated a prize to the MSXdev'07 game development competition.

Only two days after the initial announcement the first project for this year's MSXdev game development competition has already been announced.

Rafael Jannone has released standalone versions of MSX Screen Conversor, a online toolkit to convert JPG, PNG and GIF files from up to 400kb to SCREEN 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12.

During Breakpoint 2007, a large demo scene event in Bingen am Rhein, Germany a new MSX demo was released by the demo group Traktor. The demo contains several impressive effects and is certainly worth having a look at.

SD/MMC interface for MSX

Danjovic has announced an interesting new hardware extension for the MSX: an SD/MMC interface that works even on ordinary MSX1 configurations. On 3.58MHz data can be read from SD or MMC cards at 154 Kb/s whereas writing data reaches a respectable 145 Kb/s.

MSX History has published a special article of Jail Break, the never released Konami game for MSX. With a series of evidences they demonstrate that this game was going to be released for MSX, being the most noticeable the MSX cartridge reference in the instructions booklet of the ZX Spectrum tape.

And there it is! For some years already, the MSXDev contest has gained quite some popularity among MSX users. Some may even say that MSXDev gained cult status. Especially the 2005 and 2006 editions brought us many new free MSX1 games, sometimes coming from experienced teams or individuals for whom it was their first MSX1 output.
