fMSX/S60 0.97a/b

Today, Juha Riihimäki released a new version of his popular fMSX emulator for Nokia Series 60 phones, such as the Nokia N-Gage, 3650, 6600 and 7650. As of now, 2 versions of the emulator are available. The 0.97a version is optimized for Symbian 6.1 OS based phones (e.g. Nokia 3650, 7650) but also works on Symbian 7.0s OS based phones (e.g. Nokia 6600).

Olivier Hustin, a.k.a. Maggoo has just updated his website, adding a software archive of IOD releases (with extra information) and a very useful Sprite Convertor. This Windows application helps MSX developers to convert parts of .GE5 pictures to sprites.

ASCII MSX Store - new lineup

On October 17th ASCII started reservations of the MSXPC and the MSX Game Reader in their ASCII MSX Store. To ensure production, at least 3000 MSX Game Readers and at least 100 MSXPC's had to be ordered. Today, the period in which people could order these devices was closed.

And yet another addition to our downloads database: AcaBOOM, a game written in BASIC by Andrea Rossetti. About a month ago, Andrea released this game running on any MSX computer with 32kB memory or more.

Albert Beevendorp, also known as BiFi, just submitted the third entry to the MRC Snowfall Challenge. His entry works on MSX1 and higher. It takes a while before the snow effect starts to look at its best, the results look really cool.

On Project EGG (Engrossing Games Gallery), the MSX version of Rune Master and the PC-8801 version of Bokosuka Wars have just gone on sale. Since the first quarter of 2002 EGG has been re-releasing many popular games of the eighties and nineties for PC, using emulators like MSXPLAYer as a core for their releases.

As we found out on our forums, many people were looking for the DSKExplorer website after msx2.com went down. Furthermore, we missed the release of a new version of this useful tool that helps you to manage the contents of DSK images.

JP Grobler, the developer of this tool is currently looking for Pascal routines for direct disk access, to speed up this tool a bit.

A new version of the emulator RedMSX has been released by SLotman. Now in sync with blueMSX 1.0.5 (but with different routines to load zip files), this version has other improvements: a great speed up and multiple screenshot support

Shalom English beta 4

Soon after the release of the 11th beta version of Shalom Portuguese, SLotman adapted the English version as well. In this version everything but the credits are translated.
