The English version is corrupted (see discussion in the news).

Here's a temporary link to the correct English version : http://www.msxblue.com/temp2/ducktales-en-good.zip

You're correct, though yours refuses to load the end demo Sad

It's not "my" version, people who uploaded games for MRC should have tested fully the games before uploading them.

I've updated the download and included the manual. You can thank Meits for scanning the manual Smile

Unfortunately, if you download the file you get 'Realms of Adventure', English/Ducht (but it's in English) ... with the Ducktales manual.

Could anyone correct that? I was looking for Ducktales (preferably in Dutch) for my son :-)

Ah, can't edit my previous post, but of course it's 'Dutch' instead of 'Ducht' :-)

Could you try again, dracul? The download's fine over here. Possibly it's fixed now.

I just tested it as well, but I remember I tested it around release as well. Both times it went well.
Not sure what caused what happened to you.

That's really weird guys, I downloaded the file again and indeed, you are right, in bluemsx it starts with Ducktales.
When I put in on an empty SD, and put that into my 'my super sd cartridge' it starts with 'Realms of adventure'.

I'll retry reformatting my SD (though it shows nothing else), and then repeat it. It's weird.

But you're right, apparently the download file is ok! Thanks!

Update: found it, apparently Realms of Adventure was copied to the cartridge, so my SD was ignored and it automatically started running Realms after booting.

Thanks for your help!

Hey guys. I have blue msx and this rom. Was wondering what are the commands to start the game? Or am I missing something? Like a disc image or whatever? Not to familiar with this, but I can get the msx carts to run fine. Thanks!!

If you unzip the file you'll end up with two disk images. It's up to you to decide which one you want to load into blueMSX.
blueMSX is quite straight forward with loading images. From there on just treat it like it's a real MSX, switch it on and enjoy.

It doesn't just load though. There just text asking for a comment prompt I guess? Do I need to do a "run" command or something? I tried "run ducktales" and stuff but I got nothing.. thanks for the help.

It should boot automatically. What MSX machine are you emulating? I think it needs at least MSX2.
And are you inserting the disk image in an actual diskdrive and not in a cartridge slot?
Also, it won't play any music if you haven't plugged in an FM-PAC and/or Music Module.
Try emulating an MSX2+, it should work and you'll at least already have FM sound.

Thanks, I did get the game to work. It's a fun game, but after I beat level one it says enter a password, I enter it and nothing happens. Is there a bug on this game?

There is a bug in the game indeed. A bug they were never able to fix. So they made a work around: At the end of stage one you get the password of stage two. You need to reset your computer and enter the password of stage two. Something must've been stuck in ram. Funny thing is that the transition between stage two and three goes without a problem.

Mike888, if you enjoy this type of game, I recommend you to try "Rune Master II" in case you didn't know about it yet. It's a bit flawed here and there, but really a lot of fun.
http://www.generation-msx.nl/software/compile/disc-station-d...
Also, there was a game inspired by it but with a lot more gameplay elements (such as being able to directly battle other players and setting traps for eachother) called "The Witch's Revenge":
http://www.generation-msx.nl/software/umax/the-witchs-reveng...
Finally, "Rune Monster", an MSX2 game in the same genre was released in 2016:

This loads to a black screen on my F1-XDmk2. I've tried w and w/o a MFR SCC+ for RAM expansion, with/without FM-PAC, and nothing works.

Booting from real floppy.

The game does need 128K ram, so you do need extra ram if your machine is original.
What if you flash the dsk to the mfr instead of using the fdd?

The game doesn't handle Nextor/DOS2 very well, I guess. You'd need just the memory expansion of the MFR SCC+ SD.

Flashing the dsk to the mfr does indeed fix it, thanks.

just tested it in my MFR, I copied content to a folder. add a RUN.BAT in which MAP gets executed and next command is BASIC AUTOEXEC.BAS .. game boots perfectly from Sofarun even with this method.

This download bugs at World 3, music trips and you can't get through. With a different version I can load World 3 properly.
