Jer's Musix Disk

by Randam Hajile on 22-05-2017, 19:57

Back in 1994 I released a music disk with some friends, and named it Jer's Musix Disk (after my name, Jeroen). It was reviewed by MCCM in the december issue (see:

Although it does not match the quality of Impact, Anma and others, it was fun to make and I sold a dozen copies. A while ago I digged it up from my old disks and miraculously, it still works. So here it is!

The disk contains a number of tunes composed for the MSX-Audio, with a few equalizers to choose from.
There is a video showing some highlights here:

Tip! Remove the first byte with an hexadecimal editor to get a working DSK.

@mars200you: thanks for trying the disk. Mysteriously it worked in my emulator, but indeed it is not a valid MSX disk without your suggested fix. I'll supply a correct image asap. Apologies for the inconvenience.

I am still kind of annoyed that people insist on calling "channel VU-meters" .... "equalizers"... An equalizer is a device in which you can adjust the volumes of frequency bands. And yes, equalizers typically also have "channel VU-meters"....

Which composing program did you use to create the music disk?

Here's a temporary link to a fixed version:

@Manuel: agreed on the use of the term equalizer. Please forgive me, I was 14 years old when I made this :) The music was composed with good old Moonblaster. Really loved it. Also check out this blog post: (in Dutch).

Here's one that doesn't Syntax Error while booting.
Replaced basic.bin and completed the CLEAR command in autoexec.bas.
