Please do not "fix" MSX software that is working correctly on real hardware because of an emulation bug The emulator needs fixing, not the MSX software.

Agree Manuel! This was my mistake.
I relied on the OpenMSX, to program it, without realizing that in real HW it was not right.

Noticed a bug, perhaps in OpenMSX? I can not load a save state from this game. More specifically: I can load it, but it prints "STAGE 5" in the top-left corner, music is playing, and I can (blindly) move around pieces. Perhaps the V9000 state is not loaded correctly?

Ok, the problem is that OpenMSX (or Catapult, in case it is doing something here) does not change the output window to V9000 when one loads a state! The output just needs to be changed manually. Or, fullscreen toggled - that changes the output (hmm or input?) of the window automatically ;-)

You must configure video9000, in OpenMsx. This is how you see the v9990 screen directly.
I have BIND configured, to make a quick change to msx / v9990.
Set it up like this from the console:
bind F6 "cycle videosource"

Thank you Manel46, saves me the trouble looking up in the documentation ;-). I figured there must be some way to do this (once I remembered the V9990 has a separate output).
