There was also a pretty good version of this game published in the Dutch MSX Computer Magazine.

And I also programmed a version of this game in Turbo Pascal, called Laserbykes 2. Never released though.

I have no experience coding for MSX1 really. My game was for MSX2 and written in Turbo Pascal. I worked on it 1998, but stopped when I lost contact with Kari Lammassaari, who provided me the necessary library routines. Oh, it's only a top view game, like Lazer Bykes or the one in Drome. I might post a video of it some time Smile

manuel, supposing you've already done the main stuff, wouldn't you like to make a full blown game of it one day?
Since the game concept (of Laser Bykes) is very fun and addicting, a 2010 version for MSX2 can be verrrrry interesting as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure to not be the only one who thinks that way. Smile
What screen mode was it for?

I made it in screen 7. This is the TODO list in the source code:

{ + = High-priority (_must_ be implemented, solved, made), - = low-priority}

{Plans:+ Real sound-fx, not just the silly BEEP (but a real SEE explosion!)
       + BGM (if I can get it working with this MB-replayer, I need it
         (and therefore MAPPER.INC) to work in DOS 1 as well...)
       + A graphical explosion (with COPY_XY.INC, copying some small frames)
       - Finetuning of the menu (Glowing arrow? Graphical predrawn arrow?)
       - Smarter complayer: scan # pixels left/right, choose longest free path
       - (Maybe: speed-up/slow-down items)
       - Maybe: direction-change-item, control-inversion-item, jump-item

{Known bugs:
       - None!

{Needed:
       + SOUND.INC/WRTPSG.INC, or S.E.E. (Sound Effects Editor, by Fuzzy Logic)
         support (as in NestorBASIC, by Nestor Soriano)
       + MBPLAYER.INC (thus MAPPER.INC?) working in both DOS 2 and DOS 1
       - What would be nice: FONT7.INC for DOS 1, but I don't have space left
         on page 1, so also needed: RAM <-> VRAM routines
       - Maybe for sample-soundfx: MUSICMO1.INC with loadroutines that work in
         both DOS1 and DOS2}

Other than these things, it's finished. The code was reused to make Kink, see the downloads section of MRC.

I'm geek about tron games, a few years I made a version of TRON in BLASSIC (for windows XP/Linux, maybe it can work on Windows Vista)
